We're making plans for a summer vacation in D.C...
I refused to go as long as bush was there. Now, I can go see the sites and educate my son with pride. :patriot:

1. Us too!
My husband and I were there a couple of years ago to see the Dalai Lama, but want to go back. We are going to take my mom.

2. I haven't been there since 1999.
It's time to visit again for sure.

3. We want to see DC too.
We would have gone in '05 BUT the Chimp and Darth were still there.
Now we can set up our trip.

4. The best weather is in June
as early as you can come. July and August are wickedly hot usually, although the last two weaks in August might not be too bad. The humidity is very hard on tourists. I've seen and felt sorry for them in the metro. The autumn is the best weather we have here, like October. Good walking around weather.

7. My husband and I were just talking about doing the same thing. We were thinking late-spring.
I've had absolutely no interest in being anywhere near there in many, many years.

Until now.

8. If you can handle the crowds, April is nice for seeing the Cherry Blossoms
but it could still be a little chilly

9. I was there about 5 years ago,
used the Blue line from Rockville to get to the Capitol. I did not get to the Smithosian or a tour of the Whitehouse, but I did spend some time at the VietNam Memorial. I spent some time in the Lincoln Memorial and on the mall. I plan to take my grandson to see it some day soon. I want him to see it with the same feeling of pride.

Peace

10. Going in March
We've done a bunch of Capitol tours on the school trips I've been on (thanks, Senator Byrd).

This year we're touring the White House (again, thanks Senator Byrd).

:woohoo:
