I Was Wrong
I was one of those who believed that there would be an October Surprise, a last minute declaration of Martial Law or invasion of Iran or even a suspiciously convienient small plane crash. I sincerely believed that BushCo would never willingly give up power and I will believe that they at least considered it until my dying day. But it didn't happen.

So, I was wrong. And I have rarely been more thankful to be proved wrong. The Long Night is over. Dawn is breaking.

Anyone who called me a Chicken Little the first time around, feel free to indulge in (entirely deserved) "Told you so!"s.

2. Jonah was wrong
Ninevah wasn't destroyed, because his prophecy made them repent.

9. good point
I believe our accusations held up Bush's intentions in Iran in the sunlight and probably contributed to his decision to forgo support for military action.

And, who did it hurt to predict the worst from the last administration?

Which, amusingly enough, I got for making exactly that kind of doom-laden prediction.

3. No. You are right.
These turds will do all they can to hold on to power, obstruct Obama and any progressive legislation, and do all they can to return to total power.

As an example of what the BFEE did during Carter's presidency, please Google: Safari-Club + Bandar.

7. You are probably one of the few to admit that you were wrong.
The problem with being a Chicken Little of the Boy Who Cried Wolf is that you lose credibility when something does happen.

Now I confidently predict that this year a celebrity will die and then 2 more will die after that because these things always happen in 3s. Then we start a new 3.

8. I'll tell ya 451. . .It just plain wasn't that far a stretch
to imagine that crowd pulling something like that. I would not have been astonished if they HAD.

Whenever there was a "right" and a "wrong".. they went with the wrong choice each time.

10. Well
Things is.... with Bushco, anything was possible.
Since it was possible, only a fool would have never considered such scenarios.

Not many of us were fools, but:
We're all glad you were wrong.

12. I knew
McCain couldn't win. The minute he was chosen to run, I knew he'd never win. I was hardly the only one.
Everybody knew Ford wouldn't win. I knew Dole wouldn't win.
I had a few moments of fear, but the current joy was worth it.

13. They were hoping the Great Depression 2.0 would have happened later.
The war in Georgia and military tribunals were supposed to be the backdrop for the McCain campaign. Imagine how effective Palin accusations of "terrorist" would been if weren't for the economy collapsing. Instead, it look like they were ignoring the 800 lb gorilla in the room. My belief was that if McCain would have been elected, some "event" would have occurred after the digital changeover, leaving millions confused when Presidential Directive 51 kicked in. McCain steps down and President Palin comes forward.

Sure it sounds ham-fisted, but so did using 9/11 to invade Iraq.

17. why would they want to be in power over such a monsterous mess as what they're leaving behind?
this works better for them-
by setting up obama to fail, they can set the stage for a triumphant return of the gop in 2012, and gaurantee that it will be a LOONNGG time before another african-american is able to run again for potus.

19. I can only tell you that
although I was one of the people that was most vocal about mocking the dire predictions, I appreciate your admission that you were wrong, too much to pile on now, but I think you're still wrong. I believe that in the last couple of years, bush couldn't wait to flee D.C.

20. Many of you may not have been exposed....
but I was getting emails about Clinton declaring martial law and cancelling the elections way back in 1998. It's an old CT.

Today I saw enough military personnel working really, really hard not to grin (or just bust out of their uniforms) when close to our new President to reinforce my belief that BushCo couldn't have pulled it off if they'd tried. The NeoCons are done.

22. Sorry, you weren't wrong. • The October Surprise WAS to crash the global economies.
And they are pulling it off. • Cui bono? Who benefits? • We see massive extortion with the additional advantage of crippling Obama's initiatives. "Win, win," says the shadow government (some of whom changed offices today).
