So I asked my 76 year old mother today if she had ever seen an inauguration like this.
And she said, "The closest I can remember would be FDR's, where people were looking for a hero ... And in a way they got one."

She then followed by saying that she thought Obama could fill the bill.

Mom, from your mouth to God's ears. I

2. I can understand.
I'm feeling lucky that I was alive to see this. Frankly, I didn't expect to be.

4. SampleGirl, I know what you mean completely...
My mom passed away in 2004 leading up to the election and was looking forward to voting AGAINST the chimp. My MIL passed in 2 years to the day of her memorial and my Gradnmother passed away in November of last year. She recounted to me about the bodies hanging from trees after being lynched. I wished that she would have lived long enough to see this. She was a lovely black woman who had seen so much in her 88 years on this lanet and I wished that both she, my Grandpa and most importantly, my Mom had lived long enough to see bush run out on a rail and the first Black resident, something that I'm sure she could have never imagined happening in my lifetime, let alone this century. :pals:

3. I was praying, "Make him the greatest, make him the greatest..."
during the swearing in. Because I don't think anything less will get us through.
