Obama made a mistake in his speech: only 43 people have taken the oath

Here's what Obama said:

"Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace."

Only 43 persons have taken the Oath. Only 43 persons have become president.

The reason: Grover Cleveland served non-consecutive terms and is (stupidly, IMO) both the 22nd and 24th president. Still, he's still one person.

So only 43 presidents. 44 "presidencies."

He was clearly off his game a bit, and the debacle on the oath only made it worse. It was a mediocre speech... but who cares, it's just a speech.

Yeah, compared to some of his other speeches, it was weaker. I found the whole thing a bit disappointing, but it's not like all the pomp and circumstance matter. It's gonna be the rubber hitting the road and the changes he bring to our nation that make a difference in our lives--not pretty words on a pulpit.
