84. The HIV program was a good idea

The prescription drug program, although flawed (it should let medicare negotiate and under Obama medicare will get that ability) was a program that helped seniors who were facing huge drug prices of $1,000 a month because of the catastropic annual cap of $6000. The fact that he didn't veto the second chance act (which tries to provide rehab and community integration for ex-cons) was good to see.



HOwever, I should point out that all of these achievements are liberal achievement. Fighting global disease, rehabilitation of prisoners and government funded medicine are liberal ideas. So the only things I can think of that Bush did that I approve of were liberal initiatives. I cannot think of any conservative agendas he had that I agree with.


He also destroyed movement conservatism and hopefully the GOP for a generation or more. Virtually nobody under 30 wants anything to do with the republican party, and our generation went democratic by a 30 point margin in this election.
