1. looks like
we can go ahead and prosecute? i hope.

i had my doubts over the years. but maybe we were hysterical, and maybe if we hadn't said anything, all those terrible things would have come to pass. i still think the bushies were intent on turning a democracy into a fascist dictatorship.

10. First, How Would We Respond?
If he declared Martial Law, what would we do?

Second, I am really surprised there were no pardons of Darth-Vader. So then he is fair game for war crimes? Yes? No?

Seriously. I am really surprised. I was expecting many people getting pardoned other than the border patrol guards.

18. First of all...
Setting aside the questions of whether he'd actually do it if he could do it legally speaking, exactly which army is going to enforce this declaration of martial law?

Also, I highly doubt we're ever going to see any serious criminal charges filed against any members of the Dubya administration, let alone war crimes charges. Presidents have rarely made that big a deal of their predecessors transgressions. Hell, even with the anti-Clinton crusade they chose to tar him & his in the court of public opinion rather than a court of law after he left office. No, I don't suspect we'll be seeing Dubya & company anywhere near a courtroom any time soon. On the other hand, there might be some leeway for going after people in DOJ, etc, but I think that's probably pretty unlikely as well.

19. Of course.
But having proved from first principles that these things were inevitable and yet forced to admit they did not come to pass, you'd think it would cause the various prophets to examine their logic or premises.

They won't, at least not seriously; instead they will multiply entities and complicate their arguments beyond necessity to preserve both their original premises and logic. Then they will announce that they're experts at critical thinking and pro-scientific method.

27. Not I, igil. I was WRONG. They did not start a false-flag insurrection so they could
declare martial law like I thought they would.

I attribute that to those who control our government being so secure in their ability to keep and maintain their control that they can do it without a Bush/Cheney cabal. They were able to do so much to secure their power in the last eight years that they don't fear anything that We the People could do to them.

Even if President Obama became a flaming liberal overnight and tried to implement systemic changes, there are so many impediments in his way (Reid, Pelosi, the Supremes, the DLC, the media) that it would be impossible.

Our new President will only be able to go as far as the powers behind the scenes allow him to go.

I'll be right back. I have to go out and buy some more tinfoil.

Homer: Not a bear in sight. The Bear Patrol must be working like a charm!
Lisa: That's specious reasoning, Dad.
Homer: Thank you, dear.
Lisa: By your logic I could claim that this rock keeps tigers away.
Homer: Oh, how does it work?
Lisa: It doesn't work.
Homer: Uh-huh.
Lisa: It's just a stupid rock.
Homer: Uh-huh.
Lisa: But I don't see any tigers around, do you?

Homer: Lisa, I want to buy your rock.

47. The incoming president usually issues the pardon to the outgoing president
for the record... Clinton refused Bush's, so I guess there is precedent

Secondly, we told the Israelis no... but I guess that was more complicated than many on an online posting board really get

And truthfully, given that ROVE floated the balloon on not transferring power about six to seven months ago... for about 12 hours... my dear I would not be too sure that the armed forces said no... remember when they floated internment camps for Arabs? Probably not... I know for a fact that the USN was going to have a mass mutiny...

That said, this is a piece of pie I will gladly eat

And will continue to REMAIN VIGILANT

As others have told you... one reason this didn't happen is the MINORITY of voices that kept an eye and kept screaming about things like this

Oh and just because Obama is now the President, does not mean I will LOWER my guard... not at all
