2. I thought they were sworn in before the televised oath of office.
I thought they did that before stepping on the stage. I was under the impression, the televised oath is just for show.

I'm not kidding about this. The Constitution has the exact words to be uttered - they weren't.

I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.
