There has been racial progress in the state. For the first time, two African-American women sit in the Nebraska Legislature.
There has also been racial progress in the city with two African-American men on the Omaha City Council.
"No it’s not all bad, we do have a lot of people in coalitions who have come together, the Empowerment Network,” said UNO's Shelley Henderson. “We do have some things that are positive in north Omaha."
“As far as turning points, we facilitate faith-based organizations like Good News Bears, they do a lot for the community, for young children,” said Turning Point’s Miles Busby.
