I bought four large pizzas and took them to a local homeless shelter that feeds the homeless. I sometimes go there and help out with serving and/or cooking (although me cooking is questionable) but today I just got a wild hair up my ass and took 'em pizza as a treat. It was a bit costly, but worth it when I saw the looks on the faces of the people in there. I even answered a homework question for a kid, naming the original thirteen colonies. Man that was hard because it's been a loooonnnngggg time since I had to think about that.
I feel wonderful and knowing that we are about to embark on the Obama presidency makes it better.

2. Every day is a day of service for a caregiver.
 Nonetheless, each day offers "good neighbor" opportunities, as well ... especially in the winter.

4. I did a surprise good neighbor visit to a lady who has cancer and
under going chemo....again. She seemed touched that I visited because so many are reluctant to do so! Sad. I gathered eggs before I went and took her a fresh dozen. Hope she feels like eating them. I've decided that I should drop in every week to see her. It's certainly not a day of service but maybe when we don't have to spend most waking moments to keep our heads above water I can do something more productive.

5. I had to go in to work.
Unfortunately, not all companies give their employees MLK Day off.
