Please call the White House on Wednesday

For decades, self-interested people and politics have controlled America's energy supply and created a reliance on costly fossil fuels, which now endangers our health, safety, environment, and economic survival. From volatile energy prices to the horrific TVA coal sludge disaster in Tennessee and world-wide extreme weather patterns, the signs are clear:

It's time for decisive, bold action to ensure a clean, renewable energy economy for America and a cleaner, healthier planet for our children.

CCP believes a national energy policy based on renewable, price-stable sources is necessary, and in order to secure it, we must send a powerful message to Barack Obama.

Please help. Pick up the phone for

A National Call-in Day to the White House!

This Wednesday, January 21st, the first day of the new administration, thousands of citizens will be calling the White House to make it known that the American people are saying YES to renewables, YES to energy efficiency, NO to carbon capture and sequestration, and NO to nuclear power.

Please be a part of this historic national call-in to President Obama! It will take 5 minutes from people all across the country to show our new President we are serious about a new energy policy and that we intend to secure it.

When should you call:
Wednesday January 21 starting at 9:00 a.m. Eastern time.
What's the phone number?

+1 (202) 456-1111 (TTY/TDD +1 (202) 456-6213)
What should I say?

"Hi, my name is ________. I'm calling in collaboration with CLEAN, a grassroots movement of citizens and organizations with the common goal of implementing a new energy future through safe and clean renewable energy, and energy efficiency.

President Obama, I believe our federal government must invest in renewable energy such as wind, solar and geothermal and create true incentives to drive energy efficiency, because these are the cheapest, cleanest and fastest options we have.

I want to see the economic stimulus package include $500 billion over three years for energy efficiency and renewable energy and not a dime in subsidies to the cost-ineffective coal and nuclear industries. The coal industry cannot deliver environmentally safe and pollution-free energy now, when we need it most. Nuclear power is not a quick or cheap solution, and nuclear waste is still not environmentally safe.

Thank you."
