I know the plane crash was exciting, but ...
... isn't there anything else happening anywhere?

Seriously, is this the only news?

51. It's very big news of a Rethug failure...
Rethugs have been deregulating the airline industry for decades. It's literally a miracle that no one died in this crash caused by their quest for profits. We need to bring back regulation to cut down the number of crashes to a bare minimum (zero, preferably).

You can't regulate accidents out of existence. You haven't presented any evidence whatsoever to show that this was a result of poor oversight of the industry.

64. What's to show
Repeated shots of their stock graph, and stock footage of the outside of their HQ? The poor state of Citi and BofA is the main financial news story today, but even though I've been following it closely all week I still think an emergency plane landing in the middle of NY deserves to be top story, plus it's something remarkable visually speaking.

So the TV news is shallow, like we didn't know that before.

How likely do you think it is that the GOP-controlled media won't be all talked out about this story by the time Dumbass comes on tonight?

And, I'm not just talking about Dumbass. There's a whole world out there and the GOP-controlled media has every fucking camera on the Hudson River? Every reporter?

What about the frozen Northeast? Alaska?

Is nothing happening in Gaza?

Has the whole world stopped everything in order for this news conference?

26. I hope the GOP-controlled media will spend hour after hour after hour on it.
Of course I'm not saying that a plane landing safely on water when it wasn't supposed to and all passengers and crew are safe is somehow equivalent to one missing single white female. But there are several networks, hours of programming and very few new bits of information about this incident.

I'm just asking why can't the GOP-controlled media multi-task?

30. It's an amazing, amazing feat
This plane didn't just land. It was landed by an incredible pilot in the midst of a horribly densely populated area on a strip of river that's very narrow.

And he did it with no power.

This story beggars belief. It's huge. I know what you mean about how they all run the same stuff over and over, but, if you're familiar with Manhattan, this is a story right out of some unbelievable movie.

And no serious injuries. No fatalities. And the pilot did a WALK-THROUGH of the plane before he left!!!!

It's an incredible story. This one deserves this kind of coverage.

Besides, shortly we'll have Chimpy Fucknuts making his LAST SPEECH!!!! That should cheer you up. I know I'm psyched.........

32. As important as this is ...
... the GOP-controlled media's coverage of it reminds me of how they cover car chases.

They keep their cameras on something afraid that if they turn away something will happen and their competitor will scoop them.

The GOP-controlled media lacks the integrity to say something like: "We will follow this story and return when more information becomes available. And now back to other news."

38. I don't know about "GOP-controlled media,"
but I know that every organization wants to get the big story.

And they do give the public what they want.

That's not saying a whole lot about the public.

There are other channels carrying news - PBS comes to mind right now.

There is always, of course, turning off the TV and heading for NPR.

Or, in my case, the kitchen----------------------->

39. "they do give the public what they want."
They can't know what the public wants before the public has made a decision.

They guess what the public wants from the choices the sponsors have made.

As far as other things to do, this is the time in my day when I watch TV news.

42. you have access to the internet and can find coverage of news from around the world
Tell us what else is going on that deserves interrupting the coverage of this story?

Remember, most people don't watch CNN and other news channels nonstop. They tune in and tune out. So the channels go for repitition. (The same is true with the all-news channel on my radio dial -- if I listen for an hour, I'm likely to hear the same story, with the same prerecorded interviews) more than once.

So, check out what is going on and report back to us as to what you think an editor at one of these channels would decide that a majority of his/her audience would like to see covered, even if it means breaking away from coverage of the crash.

50. Hmm, let's see ...
... when there is no new information about the emergency landing, the GOP-controlled media could cover the cold snap throughout the midwest and northeast, not to mention Alaska and whether the flooding in Washington has subsided.

Looks like there's http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/7831870.stm">something going on in Gaza ...

Oh, and Europe is being held hostage by Russia and that pipeline.

(Of course when new information regarding the Hudson River landing comes n they can always go back)

Then, there's always the economic news, you can do local, regional, national and international.

But, now I see Tweety is trying to cover something else.
