Democracy to call on the ignored (guess who)

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/columnists/chi-schmich-14-jan14,0,1738595.column

I was weeding through the refrigerator half-listening to Hillary Clinton on Tuesday—how long does mustard last anyway?—when she said something that made me close the refrigerator door and pay attention.

"Of particular concern to me," she said, "is the plight of women and girls, who comprise the majority of the world's unhealthy, unschooled, unfed and unpaid. If half of the world's population remains vulnerable to economic, political, legal, and social marginalization, our hope of advancing democracy and prosperity will remain in serious jeopardy."

Later at Tuesday's hearing, after Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) talked about attacks against Pakistani women, Clinton too talked about fighting violence against women in foreign countries.

there are more women in the world then men.

its past time for us women to 'rise'.

for the first time I have a little hope.

2. What?! I thought Pickles Bush* solved all that...
Isn't that what she told us... at least in Afghanistan (when she wasn't admonishing us about sending children to school in the wake of Hurricane "Karina". :eyes:
