does anyone know whether 2008 income taxes might be affected by Obama's new policies?

I know the 1040 and the tax table and all the other forms have mostly been available for a while now, but is there any chance that the 2008 tax table, for example, can change between now and April 15th?

I'm self-employed and even with quarterly payments have a huge tax bill looming, so I'm hoping to get some relief, as a middle-class taxpayer, in this year's taxes.

I understand that a "rebate" could happen, but would rather pay less up front than get it back later.

1. It wouldn't really be fair to change the rules for 2008 now that it's in the can

Other than IRA contributions, there isn't much people can do to re-budget 2008 taxes.

out for a long while......

3. I doubt 2008 will change.

We have already updated our tax software to 2008 and I have been to two tax seminars recently and the only changes were some provisions for Hurricanes Gustav and Ike damages.
