Your participation doesn't mean that you agree with Obama and that you feel he is or will be addressing previous torture appropriately. It does mean that you realize that this is not about Obama. It is about thinking about others and giving some of your time on one day to help them. This is an invitation open to all. Please check out the link above. There is an exceptional demand and every single person who participates makes an impact. There are many projects so you can choose what you might like to do. There is also a great opportunity to meet others and maybe talk about some of your hopes for Obama's presidency as well as some of your concerns.

Nobody can force you to participate. However, it would be helpful if people could try to refrain from mockling this effort. There is plenty of space elsewhere on DU to share your frustration with Obama, his staff, his policies, and anythingelse.
