4. Ugh, I saw the Grand Torino preview & it looks just horrible
If Eastwood gets an Oscar for that, it'll be one of those "On Golden Pond" type we're-giving-you-this-statue-
for-that-mediocre-crap-cause-we-think-you're-gonna-die-soon sort of Oscars.

8. He does seem to have an. . . um. .
limited palette as an actor. If you've heard him say "Make my day".. you've heard every goddam line he's ever uttered.

9. I really want Sean Penn to win.
I just saw Milk last weekend and it is one of the best movies I have seen, I really hope that not only does it win for best actor but best picture as well. Everyone needs to see this movie.

13. Absolutely, loved that movie! It was humbling and superb.
Penn did a spectacular job with the role of Milk. He was transformed. A real gem. He should get the Oscar.

14. I loved what Langella did with Nixon but I was more impressed by Penn.
Langella did have such a great presence and did a wonderful job of "recollecting" Nixon for us. Quite a tour de force. Bravo...

15. I've not seen any of the films mentioned so far
Thing is, when it comes to the Oscars, the big awards tend to be more about sentimentality than quality. In the end, I've come to embrace George C. Scott's attitude. The Academy Awards are nothing more than a "meat parade". To claim that one excellent performance is more excellent than another excellent performance is insulting and an exercise of wankery.

12. Sean Penn was amazing in Milk.....He even looked like Harvey Milk.
And it was a great movie - not easy to do with a biopic. (Just ask Oliver Stone, who produced the rather crappy "W"}
