Poll question: How often do you "Recommend" posts here in General Discussion?
I'll answer the poll first myself by saying that I recommend one or two posts a day; generally just those few that I think are exceptionally well written, point to an important but little discussed issue, or strike me as so amusing I'd like others to enjoy them too.

How often do you recommend posts? What are your reasons?

2. Not to be disrespectful my dear Sir, but wasn't that ....
"Uncle Joe", wasn't that the nickname for Joseph (sic, Josip) Broz?

3. No sweat,

I'm an uncle, my name is Joe, and I like Bob Seger's music.

I wasn't thinking about Stalin when I chose this handle, but at this point, that makes no difference to me, I see no reason to give him a monopoly on the words uncle, Joe or any combination thereof, as far as I'm concerned he can burn in hell.

8. I didn't know
Tito was called that, I heard Stalin was, I guess there are a lot of Joes and a lot of uncles out there.

But I don't feel any warmer toward Tito than I did Stalin.

I don't believe a person should go through life worrying about that sort of thing.

13. At this point in my life, I'm pretty certain I will never be a father,

so I only thought of it as having a warm connotation, and I still do.

Peace to you Ohio Joe.:)

15. No bad connotation at all as far as I can see
Tito seems to me to be an interesting character about I know near nothing. I don't think Uncle Joe is any worse of a name to be called than Uncle Tom (or Thom in my case), a name I am called by several young people.

4. I never recommend posts that beg for recommendations.
I find that to be really tacky.

9. I'm with you.
I never recommend a post that begs for recommends.
It is an open admission of a lack of merit.

14. We are a small minority
But when a post starts "Rec. this post if..." I never read any further.

I just close it and move on to something better.

16. I'm with you guys
If it begs for a rec it does not deserve a rec. Once it says "if you support blah blah rec this post" the chances that it has anything worth reading are zero.

5. I recommend threads (not posts) as often as they deserve it.
That's not very often ... maybe 2-4 times per week, lately.

12. I recommend (and kick) posts that I think others need to see.
And I always recommend toons! I hate that I often miss the toon compilation posts. I recommend toon posts so that others can find them on the Greatest Page.
