Seating Al Franken....
How come in the 06 congressional contest for Katherine Harris's seat in Florida, they seated Vern Buchanan while Christine Jennings filed a contest. Jennings actually attended "orientation" and was allowed to be photographed with the incoming congress, as her election was "unresolved". So why are they not seating Franken? They said in 06 it was because it was certified, they sat Very B. in Fla. That also must be done first before a losing candidate can file a contest.

Can anyone shed some light please on the situation of Al Franken, and why they are not seating him? That is what is being said.

1. Probably because he's not a Republican or a Democrat who has his head
stuck up the RNCs ass. That's the only conclusion I can come to.

7. Agreed! Hopefully Al Is True To His Contentions But The Comparion to Jennings Is Appropo!
Franken IS the WINNER!

Let Coleman attend orientation but the rules should be no different for a Dem for whom the recount favors. Franken MUST be seated. This however IS NOT merely a fight vs Repubs this is a fight against the establishment to keep the congress free of ANY egg breakers ___ which if Franken remains true to his creed surely can be counted among the more flamboyant and charismatic of the egg breaker crowd who just happened... TO WIN A FU*KING ELECTION! Take THAT "Establishment INSIDER BASTARDS! :nuke: :)

2. Perhaps Buchanan was certified by the state of Florida
Its up to the state the Senator is elected in to certify the race.

Franken hasn't received his official papers from Minnesota yet. Minnesota probably has different rules than Florida. Minnesota won't certify until all court challenges are over. Florida probably certifies even if there are challenges.

4. It was a federal race, not a state race.
Jennings had to go to the U.S. House Administration Committee, to file her contest.

3. Different state election laws and a state that makes sure that all votes count
It is written into MN's laws that no legislator can be certified until all legal appeals are over with.

Also Florida's election process isn't run by rabid political hacks.

10. Are You Kidding? No RAbid Pol Hacks Running Fla Elections?
They're merely understated. Kurt Browning is a set up man from way back. He was the man in charge of Pasco County as Sup of Elections in 2000! Plenty shenanigans in 2000 in Pasco County... No doubt at minimum, 500 votes worth! SEAT FRANKEN NOW HE WON!

5. Franken is not complaining because he is following the law of the process as it is in MN.
I am sure that he wants his seating in the Senate to be above question. That's the right way to do it.

12. Like it or not, if the law says Coleman can challenge, then he doesn't have to back off.
Franken backers need to be as patient as he is and he is confident in following MN law.

6. Mainly I think it has to do with maneuvering by our pug gov Palenty.
I think he is refusing to certify him. He says he will not certify as long as there is a court challenge.

8. K & R!!!
And Jennings lets remember was a TOTAL Establishment sellout who could have been successful if she played the election contest properly. Better her than Buchanon! She and her legal team were provided the path to a WIN by Attorney Mark Adams but they chose to play softball instead. She had the $$$ and media backing to expose in a large and dramatic fashion the "failure" of electronic voting machines.

All she had to do was send out her team to collect affadavits from the myriad voters who complained (mostly in areas of high Democratic registration) interestingly enough which would have demonstrated clearly and on a LARGE scale the real truth behind the "failing" of those machines to ... COUNT properly.

John Russell did it in his contest, mentioned in Fooled Again revised edition by Mark Crispin Miller pg 375, and had Jennings done the same with her consideable advantage in resources and media attention, election reform would be a darn sight further advanced... That is we might have a system we could trust and have faith in. :wtf:

As to Al Franken... And of course Harry and Nancy! Seat the MF'er NOW! :nuke:

He IS Legit WON THE Fu*king Recount and there should be no further delay. I want to see Big Al Franken the Senator from the Great State of Minnesota... PERFORM! :bounce:
