RIM settled on the name "BlackBerry" only after weeks of work by Lexicon Branding Inc., the Sausalito, California-based firm that named Intel Corp.’s Pentium microprocessor and Apple’s PowerBook. "A linguist at the firm thought straw was too slow sounding. Someone else suggested blackberry. 1. I think they should just officially change it to Crack Berry, since it seems so addictive.

I am going to resist getting one (who wants to be that available all the time!!!) - but when I travel or sit in meetings, people are on them constantly (and pretty much ignore whatever is going on at the meeting!).

Every single time I went blackberry picking I got bitten to death by those miserable buggers.

I'm afraid the name has unfortunate connotations to me.
