Habitat for Humanity was the #5 new home builder for CA for the last 12 months

Bizarre statistic just reported by the guy sitting next to me. (He's messing around with some databases and just stumbled on this.)

They built 12 homes in the state. Only four companies (all regular home builders) built more.

1. Within a two block radius of my house, in LA, 30 homes were built (condos)
this past year.... So maybe this stat only refers to houses, not homes. Even so, I find it hard to believe!
Sold would be another story. They are all sitting there with for sale signs.

3. Yes, the statistic is for single-family homes
It's based on building permits issued.

It only means that 4 companies have a stranglehold on the home construction business in California.
