Illinois House investigation recommends IL House impeach Blagojevich for cause.
Says that the totality of the evidence warrants impeachment.

Just breaking on CNN.

1. If "the totality of evidence" is there why did Fitzgerald need that extension? nt

6. If he had enough evidence to indict Blagojevich he would have done so while
checking out the "new people" that came forward, wouldn't he?

There are reasons for time limits on indictments. They keep incompetent partisan hacks like Fitzgerald from going on unlimited fishing expeditions.

3. Perhaps they simply need time to organize what they have and interview people. nt

8. Then Fitzgerald should have kept his mouth shut until he organized and interviewed
instead of rushing into a news conference in the middle of the transition to make a splash without a case.

4. Impeachment can be for acts that are not illegal. Evidentiary requirements are different. n/t

5. So says the Republicans anyway
The Illinois Constitution only specifies the liability as "any misdemeanor in office".

To most, a misdemeanor means a crime, but there may be a different reading of their constitution by some.
