11. Are you serious?????? I would think you don't have a rescue pet then....
she's doing amazing work and I shed a tear every time I see that ad.

I rescued my amazing dog just two days before she was to meet her end.

The ads are touching and beautiful.

14. 'I would think you don't have a rescue pet then' why? just
because someone can't stand those ads because they are so heartbreaking?

i can't watch them either.

i got our morgan at an animal shelter. i suppose you could say i rescued her--but i never think of it that way. we chose her because she sang to me and my daughter. morgan also chose us. and i still grab the remote to change the channel when those ads come on.

15. Morgan is so, so cute.....I guess advertising it just like that then
it appeals to some and not to others.

Maybe they should keep the sad ads on and put up another slate....how about a celebratory backyard romp montage with your pup and daughter?

Yes, I agree, the word "rescue" doesn't apply to my little blessing that I got at the Humane Society, but I saw Bernadetter Peters, the spokesperson for the ASPCA on a talk show and she said, "WE rescue them and they rescue us right back." I can't speak the sentence without crying.

Morgan still looks like a pup? Here's to many, many, many happy years with him!

16. 'Morgan still looks like a pup? Here's to many, many, many happy years with him!'
ah, a pup no more. she's 13!

and there were plenty of those wonderful backyard romps with my daughter and her friends. she's had surgeries on her two back legs so romping isn't a good thing for her to do too much of these days. however--she still sings--she's a great singer. i love sitting on the floor with her and (howling) singing with her. :-)

you know--i think you have a FANTASTIC idea for those ads--making them positive and happy and absolutely wonderful--showing a montage of moments of the cats and dogs, clips of fun/loving/touching moments with people and their cats & dogs. an *uplifting* ad--one that makes people think: i want to do that/have that over some fun/uplifting song.

i would think they would have a far better response as far as adopting them out. i mean, "we" (society) buys things because we perceive they will make our lives better/fuller/richer--not because we feel sorry for the product/company.

your idea is BRILLIANT!

put it together with a song like this maybe?

9. I'm at my pet limit, so periodically I gather up stuff to donate to animal rescue places.
They always need rags, old towels for bedding. It doesn't cost much to help out. There's other ways to help than sending money or adopting.

5. I have to turn it off too
It's a little too much. I watched it through with my gf watching once last week so she could see it - it seemed like an eternity. :(
