Employee Free Choice Act might get early consideration this year!

Perhaps the biggest question surrounding the Employee Free Choice Act has been when we can expect Congress to act on the bill. In recent weeks, there has been a current of reporting, particularly in right-leaning media, suggesting that Free Choice was being moved to the legislative back burner. But there are fresh indications that Congress and the Obama Administration (God, it feels good to type that) recognize that we can't have genuine middle-class stimulus without the wage-buoying effects of collective bargaining -- the very effects that the Employee Free Choice Act is designed to create.

The article shows some snippets from various articles that suggest that EFCA will be considered by Congress fairly early.

My suggestion would be to have Employee Free Choice added as an amendment to the economic stimulus bill - gives us the best shot at forcing it through the Republicans without lubricant. When the Rethugs screech and whine and threaten to filibuster, we can tell them "Take it or leave it! Oh, your constituents are telling you that the economy needs help. Better make up your minds soon..."

I know, I'm a Machiavellian bastard...
