Because of county personnel cuts, the Luzerne County Sheriff’s Department will not accept gun permit applications for two weeks.

WOW..... I did not realize, a civil right, could be denied, because of budget, or personal cuts...

1. Civil rights can be denied by our government for no reason at all...

or merely due to superstition, folklore, and myths. Those pieces of paper that talk about freedom and rights? Bush wiped his ass with them 7 and a half years ago. We have no rights left now.

3. Happens all the time.
In Colorado, our Constitution says citizens are guaranteed a Free and Appropriate Pubic Education. Well, except when the state is out of money. Then both the "free" and "appropriate" parts get decimated. Some districts are allowed to set astronomical fees to subsidize their programs. Poor districts like mine can set fees as high as we want, but no one can afford them so there's no point. Jefferson County on the other hand, gets to collect more than $200 per pupil in fees. And appropriate? Well, our buildings average 50 years old, but we can't pass a bond election because no one can afford higher taxes in my district. Down the road, though, the wealthy districts can pass, pass pass bond and override elections. Our direct neighbors receive almost $1,700 more per pupil than we do through bond and overrides.

So, yeah, money trumps rights all the time.
