Tolerance.
Ladies and Gentlemen,

I am not here tonight to stand on a soapbox and spill my emotions over things larger than me. I am however a very concerned citizen of this world. I am seeing things that are showing the tendency of a downward spiral and it is rather disheartening. In the spirit of many great orators and leaders that have came and gone, I would like to give some insight on the word tolerance.

In this world today, there is a commonality of man. That commonality is the hatred of one another. Whether it be for religious preference, skin color, political ideologies or simple asthetic values. All tolerance has been lost and it is due to a misinformation campaign that has been waged against the human mind for centuries. It seems the corruption of the lowest part of the pyramid has risen to the top, and a barbaric viewpoint on the world has been attained by people we wouldn't expect.

I know, and I believe there is a cure. There is one thing that can bring us in one circle, and that is the feeling of love. Once human beings realize that we are all one species, one life I believe that we will prevail over any challenge that faces us. As of right now, we are fragmented race. We cannot hold anything nor does anything want to hold us, much like a shard of glass.

This year will be rough, and it has been anticipated. I challenge you to go out at least once this year and show someone you genuinely love them, just because they are a part of your earthly family. We are going to have to take care of each other if we intend to make it out of this dire situation. I also encourage you to read on how our forefathers took care of each other during the Great Depression. Whether it's making soup, a blanket, or sharing your television with someone in need, always realize the favor is always returned ten fold.

On a lighter note, I wish all of you a very good new year. The love of my family and I go out to all of you and I know we will recieve the same in return.

Thanks for your time

1. Hatred is an effect of Oppression. In "the Land of the Free," Hate is the measure of our
true Slavery.

Though "we" pay great lip service to Freedom, one of the reasons we are NOT Free is our Fear of Real Freedom.

And, yet, without Freedom there can be no Love.

3. "without Freedom there can be no Love."
I have no idea what that means. Will you explain it?

11. How can a slave be fully who/what-ever s/he truly is? Can an in-authentic person Love or be Loved?
It's a little simplistic, because there'd obviously be degrees of Oppression:Freedeom, but if someone is, for the most part, enslaved by something(s) (external and/or internal), s/he is NOT authentic. Love cannot live as a lie.

4. I've put government out of my head...
After being a part of the atrocities this flag commits, I have no use for them or it. I am now focusing on being a free individual, which I do not fear. This allows me to shed the boundaries that usually divide us and focus on being a productive human being.

12. I think it would be good if more of us lived more fully in the present, making it the genuine best
it can be, and "genuine" is a very challenging standard.

2. Welcome to DU.
I am not here tonight to stand on a soapbox and spill my emotions over things larger than me.

Well, that is disappointing.

I am seeing things that are showing the tendency of a downward spiral and it is rather disheartening.

What are these "things that are showing the tendency of a downward spiral"? Crime and disease?

That commonality is the hatred of one another.

Ghost writers are worthy of our hatred. Aren't they?

Once human beings realize that we are all one species, one life I believe that we will prevail over any challenge that faces us.

Sounds like an extremely easy task. Try to have it accomplished by this Tuesday.

I challenge you to go out at least once this year and show someone you genuinely love them, just because they are a part of your earthly family.

I will accept this challenge.

On a lighter note, I wish all of you a very good new year. The love of my family and I go out to all of you and I know we will recieve the same in return.

I wish you a very good new year too!

(my post is silly because I am silly, please don't take it the wrong way)

8. I am not sure if you are refering to the OP or my post.
I did not find the OP to be condescending, but the jokes in my reply may have been.

9. Welcome to DU!
I am however a very concerned citizen of this world.

Thank you for your concern.

I am seeing things that are showing the tendency of a downward spiral and it is rather disheartening.

I had thought that the end of shrub's illegal control of the U.S. was a heartening sign, but maybe that's just me. All the disheartening things have been spiraling around for quite a while. Are you just noticing this?

In the spirit of many great orators and leaders that have came and gone,

I would like to give some insight on the word tolerance.

You mean its etymology?

It seems the corruption of the lowest part of the pyramid has risen to the top, and a barbaric viewpoint on the world has been attained by people we wouldn't expect.

Eisenhower tried to warn us.

Once human beings realize that we are all one species, one life I believe that we will prevail over any challenge that faces us.

I wasn't aware that there was such confusion over species identification among humans. What is your opinion of the role of organized religions in this lack of understanding that we are all one species? Do you think that the young Earth movement, for instance, contributes to this confusion?

I also encourage you to read on how our forefathers took care of each other during the Great Depression.

I'm aware of how the last Great Depression gave rise to fascism, Nazi Germany, eugenics, ethnic cleansing, dictatorships, civil wars, and genocide. You're right - this could be a rough year.

I'm sorry, and I meant my welcome.
