What do you hope to see the new administration do ---
Don't try to put them in order ---

Just recite what would make you feel proud of the nation and the government

again ---

President were in jail. That would prove we are a country that upholds the law against human torture.

5. Think "sustainable"; plan for his kids' grandchildrens' future, and ours.
Sustainable economy.

Sustainable Health Care.

Sustainable international policy.

And, of course, restoration of civil and human rights where we had them and bringing them to those of us who never had them.

10. Good addition.
So much to do, but not impossible with the right leader, an honest leader who listens and says "we" often, and means it!

We need to make the United States the center of excellence of the whole world for clean, renewable energy.

7. Declassify the Bush/Cheney documents
Edited on Thu Jan-01-09 11:42 PM by noise
National security has been endangered by all the secrecy. For one the secrecy made it easy for Bush and Cheney to conceal criminal activity. Two, the secrecy enabled the propaganda machine to thrive.

It's not a real democratic republic when the public is forced to rely on someone like Michael Hayden. Sorry but his word is not good enough.

8. I really think that if our continued..
push for dominance in the Middle-east and elsewhere continues, there will be no money to do anything. It seems like our government is all about securing our presence everywhere else, and band-aids for here at home.

13. I want accountability. I never want madmen to be able to steal elections...
...and take hold of our treasury and use it for their own personal gains.

I want President Obama to hold everyone (even our own) accountable. Impeachment shouldn't have been taken off the table. Treasonous democrats who profited from Bushco's crimes should be tried along with Bush, Cheney, Rummy, Rice and so on.

problems are many, but first is to restore respect for the Consitution and the Rule of Law which for 8 years of Bush/Cheney/Neocon rule has been publicly debased, raped and spat on.

26. Tax the fuck out of the rich.
Even a return to the taxation schemes of previous decades would be a big help.

There probably hasn't been enough turnover in Congress yet, though, and Obama has already committed to minor adjustments that may not suffice.

28. I would like to see our nation get back on the right course
restore hope and a positive vision for the future. Set positive goals and set about effectively obtaining them.

I would like to see our nation's schools be the best in the world.

I would like to see a good job out there, for all that want them.

I would like to see our nation respected instead of disposed, by the rest of the world.

I would like to see a closing of the gap between the haves and the have nots.

I would like to see all groups respect one another and enjoy the same rights.

I would like to see our nation eliminate it's dependence on foreign energy.

I would like to see the same sort of economic prosperity, budget surpluses and relative peace, we enjoyed under President Clinton.

I would like to see the end of the divisiveness and petty partisan bickering.

us like the Bush administration did. When we show up to protest the action of our government, I want them to pay attention to us, not herd us into free speech zones or worse. I want them to pay attention to our phone calls, our letters and our emails. I want them to do what we want, not what their campaign contributors want.
