Tonight I'm going to party like it's 1999
It wasn't that long ago. My kids were all out of high school (graduates), and had bright futures. Al Gore will start his run to the White House in the Iowa caucuses. We felt confident 8 years of prosperity would continue.

Flash ahead to Dec. 31, 2008. Iraq. Environment. Economy. Health care. Long list. A list America never expected. Most of us believe the last two elections were stolen. 2000 in Florida. 2004 in Ohio. It doesn't mater anymore. W's mistakes are now history.

Somewhere we lost our identity. We lost what it means to be Americans. We lost the promise of the future for our retirements. For our children's future too.

As 2008 comes to a close, we can again have hope for all. It will take years to undo the problems created by the W administration. An administration that will be judged for a long time to come. It won't happen overnight. I HOPE the worst is over by the end of 2010. We will know the results of the mid term elections. We will also know the election result of 2008 started the turn around. Here is to the future. Here is to us. We star to reclaim our self esteem in just a few weeks.

Happy New Year.

Omaha Steve

1. Happy New Year
I'm hoping that I don't lose power, again. If I do, I'll be partying like it's 1899!

4. Happy New Year Steve.....
I was in a good place 8 yrs ago. I'm optimistic about the future but I'm digging in my heels because it's going to take a lot of work to even half way fix 8 years of fuck ups.
