Barack the Magic Negro parody showed the utter contempt that the Republicans hold minorities in America. I'm an Italian American and I remember my Immigrant Grand-Father rail against the bigotry inflicted on him during the last Depression the Republicans created. He spoke broken English and my Grand-Mother never learned the native language of America. He brought up his sons and daughters to respect this great country, as I'm sure all Immigrants do. Two of my Uncles were decorated in WWII. Two joined the labor movement as union workers (IUE, Lynn Mass. GE) and were strong minded Democrats. I am married to a Filipino Immigrant. America is a country of Immigrants. That's my background.

If they want to go into an election with a 2% share of African American votes, 30% of Latinos, only 40% of white woman and 33% of union households, I say "Thank You."
While many in the media are vilifying the "Magic Negro" song, and rightly so, the "Star Spanglish Banner" video really seals the deal as proving that the Republicans are the party of bigots. The parody was included by Chip Salzzman on the same CD he sent to all the Republicans on his list. I'm not against humor, but to use these bigoted cuts in an official capacity is showing the true colors of the Republican party. You would think that Republicans would be more sensitive to minorities, since it looks as though they will be a minority party for at least a generation.
