2. the guy who drew the map missed some schisms....
The California Republic would look more like Chile, including just the coastal green zone.

The inland desert would be a separate country, and would include other Empty Quarter states, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, & New Mexico.

The Midwest farm & rust belts would be one country, and the East Coast would divide between the Civil War North & South--though there might be some pressure from inland to separate from megalopolis cites on the coasts like the West Coast.

A better treatment of this idea was THE NINE NATIONS OF NORTH AMERICA.

3. NM belongs more with the west than it does with the southeast
so this map is a crock of absolute shit.

Tied to places like Mississippi and Georgia, this state would soon secede and attempt to rejoin Mexico.

4. Methinks said Russian Professor is a crackpot.

If Alaska ever "went to Russia" there would be a delightful amount of resistance. There is far too much oil there for anyone to let it go too easily.

And Chinese over the west coast? Gimme a fricking break.

The only thing believable here is Japan getting Hawaii.

Did this guy get his polisci degree in a crackerjack box?

On edit...I'd actually like the notion of EU membership...

11. In Russia, you don't get degree from crackerjack box. Crackerjack box gives it to you.

15. I think Alaska should go to Canada
It really makes more sense since there's a big chunk of Canada between the two parts of Alaska already.

give their new (American) citizens health care. Since old America didn't.

20. Well, it's for one of two reasons the dud(e) mentioned Alaska:
1. Like Ensign Chekhov, he thinks everything came from or was invented in Russia...

2. Alaska has lots of delicious oil.

The Canadian Maritimes.

New England doesn't need those southern states dragging them down.
