Would Bush try and end-around with the troops?
His most recent request for support Afghanistan needs to be closely examined. IIRC, there's still millions/billions missing from Afghanistan that were 'presumed' to have been transferred to the Iraq adventure.

If Congress doesn't do some strict oversight, Bush might ask for more troops in Afghanistan and then move them to Iraq.

2. You clearly mean funding for the war.
The troops are his decision, the funding belongs to Congress.

3. Don't forget...the Dems have stated they will not pull funding
for troops in the field.

4. Yes, and I agree with you.
The phrasing of your title was a bit misleading, but I think you have it right.

5. I think Congress is headed for strict oversight. They may be a
little slow for most of us here, but I think they'll catch up. Hopefully momentum will will grow and push them to put an end to the whole thing in the future.

6. By the time Congress "catches up"
Bush will have bombed Iran ("I'm the Decider") and Congress will, once again, be in the crapper without so much as a roll of toilet paper.
