2. If I were Sherry Johnston

I'd wish I had never heard the name Sarah Palin. Without the connection to the governor through Bristol, Sherry's little bust would have been a back-page story in the Anchorage Daily News, likely wouldn't have even made the local TV, but now her sorry tale is comedy fodder for the whole United States. I don't condone her OxyContin dealing, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not really that much of a story, certainly not worth the attention it's gotten. I feel sorry for her.

What would have been a small town scandal now has her face plastered across papers nation wide, and she was not looking her best (I hope).

I'm so sick of the drug war. I'm sick of the hypocrisy, of the disrupted lives, of the wasted money, and of the loss of civil rights.

Just sell the stuff in the drug stores. Use the money we're pouring down the punitive rat hole to fund regional clinics for the people who run into trouble.

I went through the 60s. Most of us tried all sorts of crap, grew up, and walked away from it. I don't think it would be any different now.

and I know what you're talking about. I've known thousands of people with drug and alcohol issues, using/dealing. I've been one of those myself. It's a part of life, a reality, and people shouldn't be ostracized in this way. Sherry Johnston didn't ask to be put in the limelight, Sarah Palin did. I wonder if the governor feels the same guilt for the "unwanted attention" she has brought to Levi and Sherry Johnston that she expressed when the church burned. Somehow I doubt it.
