1. I don't live that far from his CD and he rocks! Emanuel was warning freshman though
and Hinchey isn't. This should be fun!

2. Rep Hinchey
is known in Washington as "VP Cheney's worst enemy." He knows the score. He is one of the people that will help bring the criminal administration to justice.

5. He is a good man.
I think that he will play an important role in the upcoming efforts to expose the crimes committed in the secrecy of the Office of the Vice President.

6. Man! He's handsome! AND a good man!? Now that rocks!
Run the guy for president! (just kidding... )

We need people that are well informed about the mafia running the country! I hope he kicks their butts when it comes time to exposing their crimes!

8. H2O Man, I missed my chance to give you props in the praise thread a few days ago.
So, let me say that I would not understand all about Plame, etc., without your lucid posts.

So . . . can we hope?

You seem to be both well-informed and plugged-in. Please throw me a bone if you can. I can hardly believe that we have reached the point we've reached without a correction taking place.

Can you give me a wild-ass best guess about what's coming between now and, let's say, the end of the year?

Thanks, whether you can or can't. Really enjoy your posts.

9. I think that
there is a good chance that Congress will move forward on investigating some of the many crimes that have been committed by this administration. I think that what is going on now fits the "model" of a contest on a chess board that I used in describing the Plame scandal investigation. The majority of those in Washington are pawns, and I do not expect them to provide leadership. But there are some strong leaders in position now.

I expect that the current crisis will most likely be "resolved" with the White House backing down, and several people resigning. Besides the Attorney General, I think that McNulty should go. I think he "slowed" the pace of the prosecution of the neocon/AIPAC espionage scandal. I think that this summer, this case's significance will come into greater focus.

I think that Reps Hinchey, Waxman, and Conyers are in a position where they can confront the power center in the Office of the Vice President. I think that is essential for our reclaiming our Constitutional democracy. In many ways, it may be the toughest nut to crack, because many people in Washington are afraid of the OVP.

Hopefully, the Wilson civil suit will be allowed to move forward. If they get by the next hurdle, then we are in business.

My greatest hope is that people at the grass roots level become active participants in the political process. That includes everything from calling their elected officials; calling C-SPAN; writing letters to their local paper; investing time and if possible money in political campaigns on all levels; and doing things like voter registration & education.

It's going to take a combination of all of these things to put a stop to the war in Iraq. This administration is the face of the "monster" from the old Steppenwolf album. It's what this generation is up against. 2007 will be a year of conflict and struggle against that monster. As long as we hold strongly to the US Constitution, 2007 will be a year of great progress.

10. Thanks for that forecast.
Do you see greater grass roots activity as essential to the righting of our ship, or just as a good in and of itself? In other words, how big a role do you think we the people have to play, if you don't mind my asking for more of your thoughts?

11. I believe that
greater grass roots activity is essential to any effort to reclaim our Constitutional democracy. I would stress voter registration/education as among the most important things that people can do.

14. "VP Cheney's worst enemy"
I hadn't heard this about Hinchey before, but it fits in with his character and political career well. My already high opinion of him is raised even further.

4. cool, thanks
I'm going to watch this, Hinchey is so laid back in public, it could be like having two playing the straight man. Hope Colbert doesn't bring up that little issue Hinchey had at an airport years ago. :-)

13. Hinchey's formula for success should be taken to heart by the rest of the party

While maintaining a solidly liberal voting record, he has retained strong support from both moderates and conservatives in his district. He's proof that smart, dedicated progressives have plenty of appeal outside of their constituencies.

16. I liked how adamant he was about us "not being at war"
We are involved in an occupation not a war..He said several times "We are not at War" and Bush* is not a "War President"..
