2. His term does expire and he could run in 2008...
...however, he turned 80 in February and what I have heard is that he is retiring.

11. Macaca will not get elected.
(...I hope.) I sure as hell wouldn't vote for him, and I think most Virginians have realized what a racist asshole he really is. Hooray for some progress being made, right?

4. warner, for all his faults, understands what it means to be a US Senator
unlike inhofe, who is better suited for a position in a banana republic.

Of course,I'd still never vote for Warner. But when he took on Ollie North, he showed me that he was a man who was capable of recognizing integrity over party.

9. Warner v. North
Edited on Wed Mar-21-07 04:06 PM by Mike Daniels
To this day, I think John Warner won re-election because Dems crossed over in appreciation for his efforts to keep North out of the Senate. I know that he survived the Republican primary that year strictly as a result of it being open vs. limited to Republicans only.

10. Yeah, I agree.
I think John Warner is a basically decent guy - I may not agree with him on a lot of issues, but he seems to have a sense of honor and integrity. He's a hell of a lot better than his former fellow Virginia Senator...I have nothing nice to say about Mr. Macaca, except I'm glad he lost.
