Color me skeptical. Who would be fucking stupid enough to issue records with an 18 day email gap?

Why would they issue anything if there was such an obvious gap? Doesn't make sense. Anyone agree?

I hate these fuckers as much as anyone but I don't think even they are stupid enough to think no one would notice.

5. buying time
they had to release something, so they released the least bad part, I'm guessing. they read the emails from the 18 days and went holy shit, we can't let them see this crap!

They're stalling. want to make a deal. will 'forget they didn't sent those' and send them later when they have no choice

17. I don't think Bushco counted on the divide-and-conquer approach
of the blogosphere, which found the gap pretty quickly. A single reporter might take several days to piece together a good timeline, and the reporters might not be collaborating. Could be Bushco thought the scandal would have slipped off the front page before anyone really noticed the gap. Fools.

19. Good point
reporters don't collaborate - they compete.

and the WH has played to that competitive instinct quite nicely.

The internets represent an entirely different paradigm.

21. LOL, you are thinking of that "old" media, the one that actually
Edited on Wed Mar-21-07 02:53 PM by Spazito
investigated and did research not the "new" media that cheer-leads the US into war, covers for the bush admin, etc.

The DOJ/WH had to release documents and the plan was to dump 3000 pieces of paper at the last minute hoping that the size of the dump would slow down the discovery of the 18 day gap. They still have not figured out that, with the internet and blogs like TPMmuckraker, such a work load can be portioned off to manageable bites and research done in very short order.

The mainstream media has only a few "researchers" on staff, the blogs, on the other hand, have hundreds at the ready on a moment's notice.

Edited to add missing punctuation.

thirty or fifty, or all of them. Had they fired 'em all, they would've gotten away with it. Even thirty would have done the job. In order to be dictator of the world, you have to be smart rather than just sly.

Edited on Wed Mar-21-07 02:43 PM by LiberalFighter
How about Part 11-5

Page 304 has an email dated 9/16/2006
Page 305 has an email dated 12/7/2006

That by my calculation 15+31+30+7 = 83 days

28. That won't work, imo
Edited on Wed Mar-21-07 03:20 PM by Spazito
The key is the topic that was discussed in the key e-mail on Nov.15th which detailed the "pre-execution" authorization they needed ie the President and from the "Rove shop". The next e-mail date is Dec.4th where the plan was a go, they had gotten the go-ahead.

To say there were NO e-mails between the need for authorization and the plan proceeding because of the Thanksgiving break won't sell given the whole issue was authorization for the "plan" to fire the attorneys and the PR plan after.

Edited to correct typo.

these losers are addicted to their crackberries like nobody else I've ever seen. I was in a club in DC a couple of years ago and you could ID the Government losers by their suits, stick up the ass walking style and always clicking crackberry. This was at midnight too.

I don't think they would go more than 5 or 10 waking minutes without checking and replying to everyone in their address book.

23. They are all out of date order and filled with fluff
probably to try to hide the gap.

I mean, they included the transcripts from the congressional hearings. I imagine that the committee could have gotten that on their own.

Plus every time someone responded to an e-mail, they included and repeated the entire thread. I'll bet 50 - 75% of the stuff in that 3000+ pages of released documents consists of repeated information and / or information already public.

30. That's called papering over the opposition. All lawyers will try that
in hopes there'll be soo much paper people will just be overwhelmed! Of course, that won't work in this case. There are WAY too many eyes looking at these docs. 3,000 docs divided up to 30 people can be reviewed pretty quick! And I think there were more than 30 people reviewing.

It's getting interesting folks, and this is just the beginning!
