Conyers will not Issue the Subpoenas
That's my prediction. Snow was a bit too smug in his whole "there's a difference between authorizing and issuing" business. And the fact that they got the authorization, but didn't issue immediately, bodes poorly for anything coming of this. I'd be happy to be wrong, but my prediction is that some deal including less than under oath on record in public testimony will now be worked out, and no subpoenas will ever be issued.

4. unless chimpy refuses to budge at all, I think you are right
My prediction is testimony, not under oath, but with a transcript to be released after the fact and the right to call him back for testimony under oath under certain circumstances. The big question is not whether it will be under oath or public, its whether it will encompass conversations inside the WH rather than just conversations with the DOJ (i.e., Miers-ROve communications as well as WH-DOJ communications)

5. It depends on which side has the most leverage...
I'd give the leverage to the Democrats right now. Leahy and Conyers aren't stupid, unlike the assclown in the White House.

6. It's a poker game
Bush offered up an interview.....the dems raised with a subpoena threat. Now it is up to the WH to call or raise. Dems should go all in!
