The RNC Servers: Who Lives There?
I pay for membership at a site called domaintools.com. With my membership, I am able to perform a reverse IP lookup. What that means is that I am able to query a list of all the domains that share a particular web server.

You may have heard that some emails sent and received in the DOJ/USA scandal, came from an email account that points to the domain gwb43.org. When one performs a WHOIS lookup for gwb43.org, they find that the domain is registered to the RNC.

When I perform a reverse IP lookup for the RNC's main domain, rnc.org, the domain, gwb43.org will not appear. That is because currently, there is no website configured for the address.

The Republican National Committee has 123 domains listed on their server. For a while, I thought it best to keep this information to myself. I'm not really sure why anymore.

Here is a list of all the domains that share the same IP as rnc.org:

46. This Information And Links You Have Here Has To Be......
put into the hands of people that understand what this means. I've just clicked on the links you provided and then clicked on other sites in the list. They all look interconnected. I'm wondering someone who has a lot of time and went through each and every site listed - might uncover sites like Fox News and Rush Limbaugh and Hannity, etc.

That would be real telling - how they get the talking points out so fast, etc.

There is something sinister about this list.

thirdwave2.com

I SWEAR that is the name of a shell company someone was researching a while back that was possibly laundering money re: defense contracts on another thread with a load of K&Rs a few weeks ago. I could be wrong. I really need to find that thread.

Third Wave is also the name of the Army's massive outsourcing plan to bring in contractors. Hm.

edit: "The Third Wave was the name given by history teacher Ron Jones to an experimental recreation of Nazi Germany which he conducted with high school students." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Third_Wave

Also a movement re: feminism and a Swedish action film from 2003...heh. I wish the archives weren't down.

edit again: LOL GOT IT! See link!

Newt's email address handle, roflmao!

"I tracked down a website purporting to publish the full text of the e-mails, which are filled with amusing little bits of arcana like the fact that Newt's e-mail address is Thirdwave2@aol.com -- a reference to futurist Alvin Toffler's book The Third Wave."

And not just with domain names. Anything from supporting death squads in Latin America (and god knows where else) to Whitewater and the fake Baghdad incubator thing that got the 1st gulf war started. Con-jobs, framing people, set-ups, etc.
They're crooks. Not all of them but easily a majority, and of those who are not all are equally in the know about everything - but "crooks" covers it nicely.

As SpiralHawk says:

9. I've discussed this before on DU
It's very possible someone is directing their own private domain to the RNC's DNS server. The WHOIS info for that domain is privately registered. However, the majority of sites on my list are registered to the RNC, according to their WHOIS

23. Here's your answer.
If you look at an archived copy of the site from 2004 you'll see what it was about.

http://web.archive.org/web/20040929072655/http://www.flippercam.com/

The "flipper" was John Kerry and it looks like the RNC was sending people in dolphin costumes around the country to publicize their lies about Kerry's supposed "flip-flopping".

16. Can you determine when each domain was registered?
And who is listed as the admin for the sites?

Besides the obvious outrage of the thought behind BarrackOsama.com, I am confused as to the intent of the RNC registering these names.

Did they develop any of these sites with the intent of being deceptive? If I'm a farmer for Bush for instance and I went to the site for me then do I see any indication that it is an RNC site? Or does it (and all of the other sites listed) give the impression that it was a grassroots effort by sincere, passionate citizens unaffiliated trying to motivate their fellow Americans?

Why would they want to take up domain names that could otherwise be used for the party's benefit?

I love the use of the word liberal too. It's so pathetic how they stripped it of any meaning, not even as an insult.

26. I saw it
For a while, there was a domain that would show up in a reverse IP on that domain. I contacted the domains owner and that's how I found out one can point their domain to almost any DNS server.

As I recall, during the 04 election, georgwebush.com was the official domain name for Little Boot's re-election campaign. It was then on a private server along with the sheep domain and...let me see, oh yeah:

www.Johnkerrey.org
www.Saudis.net
www.Warisbad.info

Now, don't let your head explode but that domain redirects to the GOP site as well but is NOT registered to the RNC. It's registered to Bush-Cheney. However, the RNC does own georgebush.com.

Confusing, huh?

43. Timothy Griffin was RNC research director in 2002-05
Griffin's the Rove crony sent to replace the US attorney in Arkansas.

I've had the feeling the RNC was the center for a lot of campaign dirty tricks. (For example, Griffin was one of the people behind the Kerry haircut flap.) But this stuff suggests things were even dirtier than I'd suspected.

The Kerry-dolphin-flipper business mentioned by one of the posters above was the brainchild of Jim Dyke, then RNC communications director.

There was a school of costumed dolphins -- Flipper, Flopper and Flapper -- that traveled the Great Lakes region mocking Sen. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.). There was a "Kerry on Iraq" DVD showing clips of his evolving statements, framed like dates on a calendar. And there were KerryWrongForCatholics.com, KerryWrongForMormons.com and KerryWrongForEvangelicals.com.

All were part of the Republican National Committee's year-long effort to use nontraditional media to undermine Kerry's presidential campaign -- sometimes viciously, sometimes humorously. Jim Dyke, the party's outgoing communications director, helped engineer the fusillade by figuring out what to do with all the votes, quotes and other ammunition turned up by his squad of 20 or so researchers.

Officials at the party, who took some of the sharper shots that the Bush-Cheney campaign did not want to fire directly, felt they had an embarrassment of riches.

Dyke and Griffin worked closely together during the 2004 campaign -- for example, they partnered on the Kerry haircut business. After the election, Dyke left the RNC and set up a "non-partisan" group called the American Center for Voting Rights to push the idea of voter fraud and try to get voter ID laws passed. Despite being pure astroturf, the group got instant credibility when Ohio Congressman Bob Ney called them to testify before his committee.

This was at exactly the same time -- in early 2005 -- that the attorney firing scheme was first being mooted.

At this point, then, the RNC is tied to the attorney firings by way of (1) Jim Dyke and the "voter fraud" issue, (2) Timothy Griffin, and (3) these email accounts. I'd say there's a lot to look at there.
