Maddow changes her tune, blames mainstream media as well as conservatives for overhyping Blago-gate
Yesterday, I linked to criticism from progressive media critic Bob Somerby on December 12th to the effect that Rachel Maddow had blamed "a few Republicans" the night before for linking Obama to Blago-gate ( http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=4649268&mesg_id=4649268 ), when in fact Michael Isikoff had done it in her own show on December 9th. Maddow seemed to give a pass to her mainsream media colleagues. Some Maddow worshippers got angry that the Untouchable had been given advice, as you may see in the comments section of the thread in question.

Well it turns out that Maddow seems to have received the memo immediately, since that same night, on the 12th, Maddow did what she had to do and broadened the blame:
:

MADDOW (12/12/08): On the off-chance that you didn’t watch cable news all day today, here’s the day in Rod Blagojevich. The indicted governor is still in office. The hair is still awesome...

And now, the national media, newspapers, radio shows, and yes, TV news networks, have bought into one degree or another to guilt by proximity. Obama is

Note that Maddow says that "now" the mainstream media had joined the right-wing media, when in fact it had been doing it fromm the start. But still, great change of tune by Maddow. Now we're talking. Right-wingers are despicable, but the mainstream media is their accomplice.
Kudos

1. Isakoff
is a germ maybe a virus. He's done more to spread lies than any other so called "respectable" journalist. I may have heard wrong but I thought he identified Valerie Jarret as no. 5. That didn't make any sense.

2. I have been thinking this for a few days now.
It is this sort of coverage that made that darn Obama is a Muslim
stick.

"Crooked Chicago Crooked Chicago---will this taint Obama?"
Over and over. The MSM are leaving questions in the Public's mind.
Sure they go to say "so far no connection".

Sow doubt long enough and then the RW has a softened up Obama whom
they can continuously attack during his presidency.

I questioned from the beginning the members on the Hill giving this
story such weight.

The House of Representatives had their own shakedown schemes , pay to
play with Lobbiest under Tom DeLay. The Democrats looked the other
way and DeLay remained in office a long long long time. Cross DeLay
and you pay was the watchword. This "shocked" behavior is abysmal.

Helping the RW is nothing new to MSM. The RW lays a guilt trip on
them about supporting Obama and whammo, they chant the RW Talking Points.
Too shallow to think of the long term consequences. Weaking the Obama
Team before they get innauguerated.
