21. I watched a bit of it and the part of the bill they are arguing about
is funding to help people who lost their federal housing vouchers when they were destroyed in Katrina. That would be the elderly, disabled and poor who had housing provided by the government in the first place. It is definitely pugs trying to save the money for the rich.

It's a minor thing, but the Republics threw a fit. They are now upset that not everyone wanted to join them in their pity party.

20. He's my congressman - (D) South Mississippi
represents a whole bunch of folk affected by Katrina. Some dipshit republican from Georgia tried to amend a funding bill for Katrina housing by saying recipients would have to do community service/work to get funding. Taylor bristled up at the suggestion. If I were the little fuck from Georgia I would not want to piss Taylor off too much. He's been crossing swords with Insurance companies for almost two years now. Hope this helps.

Taylor is a classic DINO, but he's fucking barbra streisand compared to the trash who has run against him the last several races.

36. He's my congressman, too, Boss
And I sincerely hope that he will now rethink all the times he has sided with the Repukes against his own party and the best interests of his constituents, but I doubt it. I'm almost as ashamed of the votes I have cast for him as the ones I cast for Z*ll Mill*r back in Georgia, but, as you remarked, the alternative is so much worse. ;(

40. I recall
back in 02 and 04 the campaign literature opposing Taylor was incredible and of course there was no way of knowing who published it. I think he is a good man. He's a veteran. He works hard for his district (literally after Katrina) but he is way too far to the right for me. However, I'll probably continue to vote for him. He is the poster boy for lesser of two evils.

22. Congressman Gene Taylor (D) from MS. Made a comment to Price (R asshole)
that "he should at least have the decency to vist MS. before he expected MS. citizens to live to a higher standard than he expects his own people to live up to OR to the standard he holds the Bush administration to." (paraphrased) and I have no clue what Price said to spur Taylor to say what he did. Then, Price called for Taylor's words to be "taken down" (stricken). They removed Taylor's words from the record. IF words are removed from the record, that member isn't allowed to speak on the floor for the rest of the day. Barnie Frank then called for a vote to let Taylor speak today. They voted to let him speak, but the repukes didn't want to let that vote stand and didn't want him back on the floor. Hence my cryptic post.;)

Hope this helps.

34. Gene Taylor D-MS 4th
They are voting on Katrina funds. Taylor's district was basically destroyed by Katrina. Tom Price R-GA
has written into the bill that the local communities must match 10% of the Federal funds they are given.
Passionately, Taylor stated that if a community is leveled,it doesn't have a tax base & can't provide 10%. He challenged Price that he hadn't even visited the Gulf Coast to see the damage & he would not hold his own constituents to such a requirement.

Price cry babied that Taylor was using inappropriate words. There is a procedure to determine if a Rep. has uses inappropriate words. The reporter transcribed the words, they were read out loud twice & a committee ruled that they were inappropriate & should be stricken from the record. This also meant that Taylor could not speak on floor for rest of the day with out permission.

Barney Frank asked that Taylor have permission to speak again.
There was a verbal vote. Ayes had it, but Repukes challenged there was not a quorum. They went to electronic vote. The Ayes won on electronic vote.

Taylor asked for 1 minute. The chair asked if there were any objections & some Repuke hollered NO.
Taylor said OK & sat down.

Another Repuke (again, don't know name, but wish I did) allowed Taylor to speak.

Taylor apologized to Price(the crybaby)& INVITED him to tour the Gulf Coast.

Taylor was a class act, I thought. This man has his home blown away; IMHO he has a right to be emotional & passionate about this vote.

Mississippi should be proud.
GA should be embarrassed.

13. The amendment is to tie Katrina funding into matching funds by the
local government. Taylor from Mississippi is stating the obvious - you can't match funds if you don't have a tax base and called Price on it.

Price is a smary, lying, piece of shit repug. Nuff said.

His heart is good and he is bound and determine to help Katrina Survivors - he knows what things are like and he knows that most of the nation is clueless.

I'm proud to that he is my Congressman. Without his efforts over the last 19 months, we would be in a world of hurt, as would the survivors in Louisiana, Texas and Alabama (Rita & Katrina).

except see to it that his cronies are getting some change in their pockets. Katrina Cottages - what the hell are we supposed to do with little wooden cabins??? Insurance companies get the ass kissing and we get screwed, we being the tax payers all over the nation - if insurance companies paid what they owed us, Governement wouldn't have to be giving us grants (and bailing their asses out).

Did you see that Taylor gave them hell about the * administration's accountability and how $16000 for each fema trailer went to a friend of * and a campaign support -- he rocked. He was polite but honest and angry with the idiot from Georgia.

27. The afirmative vote
was to give him back his talking rights for the day. The repub called to strike his last words and suspend him from speaking for the rest of the day. It was put to a vote (verbal) they asked for a recorded vote. The ayes mean he can speak. Just now, the verbal vote was for the Texas repub's amendment to match funds it seems like it went down. It will not pass.
