GOP filibusters increase for minimum wage, MSM does cricket impression

http://bobgeiger.blogspot.com/2007/01/kennedy-to-republicans-what-is-it-about.html

The blogs are talking about it but the MSM seems to be completely ignoring the fact that The Repugs are trying to destroy a minimum increase. Unless I'm wrong. Is anyone talking about this in the news?

8. Will you please call these Republican contributors & pressure them into increasing the minimum wage
Edited on Fri Jan-26-07 01:36 PM by liberaldemocrat7
The US senate has voted not to pass an unamended minimum wage law.

To the people please call your local Wendy's, Outback Steakhouse, Red Lobster and Olive Garden restaurants, each of these companies gives money to the Republican party. Tell the manager that you will never patronize their restaurant again until

1. Your parent company stops giving money to the Republican party.

2. Your CEO gets the house and senate to get a clean law enacted raising the minimum wage to $10 an hour.

Unless you punish the friends of the Republican party, you will have a tough effort to get Republicans to do anything to help the less fortunate in this country.

Will you please spread this message around? Thank you.

3. I've seen a little bit of coverage, BUT

the MSM is making it sound like this is the Democrats' fault! A basic search for minimum wage in Google news gets these results:
Senators Kill Minimum Wage Amendment
Tax breaks sidetrack minimum wage bill
Senate slows plan to increase minimum wage
Minimum wage hike hits snag in Senate
Minimum wage bill fails in Senate

The media isn't telling the truth. (Big shock.) Those headlines should read, "Senate Republicans block minimum wage increase." :grr:

9. The MSM only screams when they can blame Democrats.
If Democrats were threating a fillibuster we've seen that the media would be all over it. x(

4. Of course they did. GOPs still control MOST broadcast media.
Edited on Fri Jan-26-07 12:51 PM by blm
Did they ever cover Kerry's attack on the swifts in front of the Firefighters Convention? No. He was only a presidential candidate.

The newsmedia needs to be pried away from the grasp of some cold, dead GOP hands. (Nods to Charlton Heston)

5. In my world, the CM keeps playing clips from
Bay Kayley Hutchison (that's what they called her yesterday) in which she explains they're just protecting small businesses from the poor folk.

11. Do something about it.
Tell everyone you know that the news is bogus....word will get out. It already is.

These idiots on the television have no idea that few people are listening to them any more. People are starting to ask what the blogs say before they internalize anything from the TV news. The Foxbots (CNN, ABC, FOX especially) are still in lock-step, but I think much of America has tuned out of the TV news narrative.

Keep pointing it out and soon there won't be any more corporate news. Oh...and when you get a chance, show up behind the glass on Fox 'n Friends with a sign saying "Faux News is fake" (or any other morning news show with people walking by behind them through a window). No sense in letting them get off easy...make them pixelate you out or move a potted plant in front of the window.

12. My note to Keith.
Dear Mr. Olbermann,

Since you seem sane and rational in a sea of idiot anchors and even sillier pundits, I am asking you this: please cover the filibuster of the minimum wage in the Senate by the GOP.

No one in the corporate media seems interested in the fact that a newly mandated Democratic congress is being held hostage by a soundly defeated minority.

Regards,

15. Hypocritical douchebags.
Like not even last year, they got fucking pissed when we dared even mentioning fillibustering Alito. But now they use it and suddenly it's OK.

Oh yeah, according to the fat pig Limbaugh, the past doesn't matter. :grr:

worry their beautiful brains about a minimum wage increase?
