The Talking Points Are Out, Make Sure you Have a Response.
The Talking Points Are Out, Make Sure you Have a Response.

The GOP and it’s freeper followers have shown us what the Talking points are going to be, and given that Dems get killed constantly in the battle to frame the argument so I will try to help.

Talking Point: Show Trial

“Show Trial” – Our response,

“No it is simple oversight, why does this administration fear oversight?”

Or

“Well if Bush is right them they will come out looking good, no better way to stick it to the Dems”

Or

“Maybe, but if everything was so above board, what does Bush have to hide?”

Talking Point: Reasonable

“Reasonable” they are using this to describe the access they have “granted” the congress. Our Response,

“Well I would just take my queue’s from the Republicans, they drug Clinton officials under oath no less than 47 times”

Or

“Have a closed door meeting with no transcript is not reasonable, that just creates a new conflict of he said she said”

Or

“Again, if everything is so above the board then why is the administration working so hard to hide it all from the American people?”

Talking Point: precedent

And lastly and this is the big one “precedent” our response is simple.

“Yes the precedent was set by the SCOTUS in USA vs Nixon, and Nixon lost”

Or

“The Republicans set the precedent when Clinton was in office, I guess they never thought it would bite them back so hard”

Or

“Looks to me like the administration has a lot to hide, if not, they would be more forthcoming, I think they are using the word “precedent” to hide something, if I am wrong, then why all the hoops?”

3. best ones are those which hammer home
the big question: WHAT IS HIDING IN THE BUSHES?

“Maybe, but if everything was so above board, what does Bush have to hide?”

“Again, if everything is so above the board then why is the administration working so hard to hide it all from the American people?”

“Looks to me like the administration has a lot to hide, if not, they would be more forthcoming, I think they are using the word “precedent” to hide something, if I am wrong, then why all the hoops?”

11. The Bush Administration and Lackies have already been caught lying many times on this issue
on the record.

IMO, the best response is, of course Bush doesn't want anyone on record, they've already been caught lying... multiple times.

And this is provable. Their lies about this whole USA thing.

1 Showtrial

Everything GOPers do is just for show.

2 Reasonable

Of course only if the GOP gets to set the standards for what is reasonable.

3 Precedent

GOPer Cheney leading GOPer Bush by the hand to testify behind GOPer closed doors to GOPer Pat Roberts.

13. The only reason to refuse going under oath is because you know you are going to lie
That is all there is to it. They can dress it up in "precedent" and "show trial" and "partisan" as much as they want to.

I believe it was a he, they were infested with wing nuts this morning. He said that the dems have their game plan down, get the reps under oath and then scrutinize every word for minor inconsistencies and prosecute for perjury like they did to poor old scooter.

"Reasonable" - those under investigation do not get to decide what questions they will be asked or how they will be asked those questions.

Also, Thom Hartmann pointed out today that there is a difference between being liberal and being anti-American. I would take that to the other side of the aisle and state that there is a difference between being conservative and anti-American. Today, many of the positions that the Republicans hold are not conservative, but anti-American. It's time to point it out to their constituency loudly and clearly.

Talking Point: Show Trial

*No......now the Clinton blowjob investigation? THAT was a show trial!*

Talking Point: Reasonable

*Reasonable, you have to be kidding me. The "access" they're trying to grant this congress is something they would have been able to float past their rubber-stamp repuke congress. If that congress had did it's job re: oversight, we wouldn't have to clean up the mess with this one. Deal with it!*

Talking Point: precedent

*Just about everything about this criminal enterprise posing as the executive branch is unprecedented.....next!*

33. they drug folks in to testify over frikin' CHRISTMAS CARDS!
• During President Bill Clinton's final six years, the Republican-led majority in Congress issued more than 1,000 subpoenas to the White House; during Mr. Bush's first term, the Republicans issued none. Of course, this is the same Republican majority that took 140 hours of sworn testimony about alleged misuse of the Clintons' Christmas card list but a mere 12 hours on the Abu Ghraib prison scandal.

• During the 1990s, conservative lawyer Theodore B. Olson had a key role in the "Arkansas Project," which was tasked with digging up dirt on the Clintons. His reward for such unseemly behavior? Mr. Bush appointed him solicitor general, the country's highest-ranking lawyer, and Mr. Olson is rumored to be under consideration to replace Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales if Mr. Gonzales resigns.
