Dammit! Gore's GOT TO run for president.
Edited on Wed Mar-21-07 09:47 AM by npincus
The man is a visionary- presenitng a litany of proposals to slow down the frightening speed of global warming.

Well, where would he be more effective: as a voice shouting "Danger! Wake up!", or working with a Democratic Congress as president on writing and passing the legislation he's talking about now, with the urgency he feels it requires.

Please, Al.

1. The entire world,
not to mention a good part of this country would breath a huge sigh of relief. It's the ONLY way the U.S. could even begin to redeem itself worldwide.

2. It seems an eternity since we have been able to listen to
a leader without cringing or being embarrassed. This is what we COULD have been listening to for the past 6 years--damn.

4. He is also "the alternative."
--- As Andrew Sullivan told Olberman last night, "The only thing that can save the republicans at this point is Hillary Clinton." And he is correct.

5. I would so love to see him be president
I've been showing everyone I know my copy of AIC. It shows how much of a visionary he is and how strong his ethics are.

6. I so want him to run
Remember the flamewars on Oscar night about it?

If he ran, I could truly feel like I was voting for someone, not against Republicans.

8. I bet he will announce but not until the proper time... later this year.
Announcing now is WAY too soon. WAY too soon.

Just listening to his unscripted (OF COURSE) testimony, how brilliant and articulate he is, and comparing him to the MENTALLY-CHALLENGED idiot who reads EVERYTHING that isn't a memorized slogan off a TelePrompter... well, it's just tragic where we are now.

Why do Americans have so much contempt for intellect, for the erudite? In this election cycle, intellect, knowledge and complexity have better be put out there as REQUIREMENTS for the job. Goddammit.

11. Please Al
When I signed the draftgore petition that is all I said. "Please" over and again in the space allowed.

Did you ever hear the Keith Olbermann story? The one where he interviewed Gore and afterward an intern asked Gore to run as he was gathering himself up to leave. He was still on camera and mike. This intern said, "Please Mr. Gore." And Al joked, "Well if you ask really nicely" but was horrified when he realized he was still on camera as if it ruined how he'd like to announce.

But since then I thought that maybe if we ask really nicely....

Please AL. Please. :patriot:

12. It depends on who he picks for his running mate.
I'm not so sure Gore is the shoe-in everyone seems to think he is.

13. My exact thoughts
He's got to be aware of how much more power he would have, as President, to make change.

I can't help but think (hope) he's been laying the groundwork for his presidential run.
