Illinois AG threatens to act soon against governor
CHICAGO – Illinois' attorney general on Thursday threatened to go to the state Supreme Court to have embattled Gov. Rod Blagojevich declared unfit to hold office if he doesn't resign soon.

"I am prepared to take action," state Attorney General Lisa Madigan said on CNN.

She said the best thing would be for Blagojevich (bluh-GOY'-uh-vich) to resign. The governor was arrested Tuesday on charges that he put President-elect Barack Obama's Senate seat up for sale and he has ignored calls for his resignation.

"The easiest way for us to move on in the state of Illinois is for Governor Blagojevich to do the right thing for the people and to resign," she said. "Now, it doesn't appear that he has any inclination to do that. Maybe things will change today or tomorrow."

Madigan said she "won't wait terribly long."

1. I would be more confident in Madigan
If it weren't for the fact that she wants to be Governor.

Honestly, Illinois politics makes me want to puke.

I've lived her all my life and I've never been more ashamed of that fact than right now.

This is all happy horse shit by career politicians.

I'll be holding my breath until Blago is out of office.

2. Indeed.
The problem is that everyone here is an "interested party". That said, Madigan is just doing her job this time.

3. She's a democrat and she wouldn't assume the position if Blago was removed
If she was a republican then yea, I'd understand your concerns.

And I realize that one day she might run for governor but she would gain nothing today by removing Blagojevich

4. Did she decide she wants to act or did her dad push her to act to get
rid of a governor he doesn't like. Does anyone get along with Mike Madigan? Bet he will get her campaign loaded with contributions for doing this.
