wow.....

It is snowing (hard) in New Orleans this morning.

Too warm to stick.... but still.

Update-----------

Apparently it is sticking in some areas (including the interstate... not good). I just live on the lake so weather patterns are a little different.

Pictures on WWL

2. Oh the freepers will use this to prove evidence of global cooling, but the point is climate _change_
is happening. And it's happening pretty fast.

(Wake up already, freeps!)

northern part of the Texas coast, including Beaumont. Really weird. It almost snowed further south, like it did four years ago. We got over a foot of snow where we live, further southwest. Highly unusual.

On edit: You know the climate is changing, and although some of the more obvious signs appear to indicate "global cooling," the melting glaciers and ice shelves indicate otherwise.

5. We almost had snow here in Austin..
.. except the skies cleared.

Thank goodness.

One thing people here are not good at
is dealing with snow and ice.

13. Once when I was living in Austin, my coworker told me about seeing
a funny incident on her way to work when we had ice on the streets: She said a car in front of her had started slowly skidding out of control, and the woman driving open the door and stuck her foot out, heel to the pavement, as if that was going to make a difference. My friend who saw this grew up in Detroit, so naturally, this was the funniest thing she had seen all year!

4. If you have to drive, and you're not used to this, the key is to go slowly and follow at a distance.

and enjoy. I hate snow but expect to see it on our blue mountains one of these days.

8. Hi Sgent
I'm really enjoying this. The knuckleheads on WWL TV news were having a snowball fight in the studio a few minutes ago. I'd love to get in a tussle with Dawn Brown, My weather Goddess.

11. I'm going there tonight!!
I looked up the weather so I'd know what to wear and it said when I first get there it's gonna be in the THIRTIES. But after that it'll start warming up again (according to the internets) so I'm just packing a lot of long-sleeve shirts to layer.

Friday we're going to the cemeteries }( .. takin' the camera, oohh yeeaahhh....

14. I've been up all morning with the camera.
This is the first time I remember it snowing so much in the daytime. Normally it snows at night and melts in the morning.

We've had at least 2 inches so far and it's sticking. It looks like a winter paradise.

I've already made a snowball man. LOL
