What in the world is a Deputy Governor? MSNBC just reported that
Edited on Wed Dec-10-08 02:31 PM by napi21
Deputy Governor in Ill. has resigned. I forget the name, but it wasn't the name I heard would replace Blogo if & when he resigns or is impeached. I don't think I've ever heard of a position of Deputy Governer. What do THEY do?

The guy's name is Bob Greenlee.

1. It was Bob Greenlee who resigned and this explains the position.
http://www.illinois.gov/PressReleases/ShowPressRelease.cfm?SubjectID=1&RecNum=6888

"Greenlee will be based in Chicago and will oversee the administration’s policy and legislative affairs efforts. Greenlee previously worked as the Deputy Chief of Staff for the State’s infrastructure agencies and as the Deputy Director of the Governor’s Office of Management and Budget. Greenlee also worked as a lawyer in private practice in Chicago before joining the State. He earned his undergraduate degree from Yale University and received his law degree from the University of Chicago Law School."

3. Why is any statewide office "based in Chicago"?
Springfield is the state capital. It might help to get these people away from the Chicago political culture.

4. I was surprised
to see that the Governor lived in Chicago, not Springfield.

Why is that?

6. Because he's an arrogant asshole who just CAN'T be away from
the bright lights of the big city. His wife, another arrogant asshole, refused to move to the actual state capital. But Chicago politicians have been gradually trying to make Chicago the capital for years, starting with the building of the Thompson Building, which holds a bunch of state offices, including this corrupt governor's office.

Having so many state politicians in Chicago just keeps state government closely linked with the corrupt city government from which most of these people come. And we've seen where that leads.

5. He appointed a 3rd deputy governor this month.
At least the deputy governor is not in the line of succession to the governor.

7. Apparently, several of these are even Illinoisans. He's brought them
here from elsewhere. Does this dumbf**k even KNOW what state he's governor of?
