Blowback from Ohio's 2004 Stolen Election is Escalating
Blowback from Ohio's 2004 Stolen Election is Escalating

by Bob Fitrakis & Harvey Wasserman

In a bold move "to restore trust to elections in Ohio," Ohio's newly-elected Secretary of State, Jennifer Brunner, has requested the resignation of all four members of the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections. The two Democrats and two Republicans were formally asked to resign by the close of business on March 21. Cuyahoga County includes the heavily Democratic city of Cleveland. Brunner is a Democrat who was elected to be Ohio's Secretary of State in November, 2006.

Felony convictions have also resulted in 18-month prison sentences for two employees of the Cuyahoga BOE as a result of what the county prosecutor in the case calls the "rigging" of the outcome in the recount following the 2004 presidential election. Further problems surfaced in the conduct of Cuyahoga County's May, 2006 primary, in the wake of which Michel Vu, Executive Director of the county's Board of Elections recently resigned.

In tandem, the shake-up in Ohio's biggest county reflects a widening storm surrounding the outcome of the 2004 presidential election and the conduct of elections overall in the nation's most pivotal state.

Among those Brunner has asked to resign is Cuyahoga County BOE Chair Robert Bennett, who chairs Ohio's Republican Party. Voting rights attorney Cliff Arnebeck and others have long charged that Bennett worked closely with White House advisor Karl Rove and Ohio's then-Secretary of State J. Kenneth Blackwell to secure Bush's 2004 victory in Ohio...

Maybe they can bring charges in Ohio for an investigation. I'm afraid if we wait for the Dems in D.C., we'll be waiting until the server has been scrubbed.

3. This sounds like great news. Here in CA -- Bowen is Cleaning House.
I swear, it's like having Superwoman for Secretary of State. Sharp as they come. Rock-solid honest, and an apolitical public servant of a breed not often seen. Diebold is done in this state. I am ecstatic.

4. I loves me some Brunner!
Hi XXXX,

Thanks. You are a great help, too. I really appreciate the timely information you send me. Yesterday and
Saturday, we covered 7 rallies around the state with Strickland’s team. They were good events. We’re raising
money and putting together a great grassroots team on the ground. Hope to see you soon.

Jennifer

 I wonder who sent her this?

Cuyahoga County might just as well be Macon, GA in the 60s.

8. The country is ready to UNDERSTAND the level of criminality that has kept BushInc in power.
It all comes down to HOW the media protects him and downplays the truth.

of never giving up hope. As I read the threads today, I think about where we were about 4 years ago, how hopeless it all seemed. Today, I read about justice slowly weaving it's way back into the fiber our nation, and it's a wonderful thing.

16. Is there no why that we can't get rid of this jack ass in the white house if we
prove that he did not win the election?

Is the signing in of office or whatever official steps to make a president a president the be all and end all?

22. I'm with you. When I think about how this country was when President
Clinton left office and the way it is now and what these thieves have done I feel shocked and dismayed. Before jackass was APPOINTED president our country was prosperous and fairly peaceful with the rest of the world. The one thing the rest of the world saw as idiocy American was the stupid witch hunt of President Clinton because he committed a sexual indiscretion.

I realize 9/11 happened but that is not the reason this country has gone down the toilet in the last 7 years.

At least we see some good happening with the Dems in control now.

exactly... 9/11 isn't the reason we're in this mess... that should have been cleaned up, respected, and rebuilt by the end of 2007 or 8, and look where they're at!

Someone in that department locked down the BOE bldg. so no one could watch the final tally on 11/3/04.

20. BradBlog reports NEW criminal investigations in Ohio - 3/21
http://www.bradblog.com/?p=4306

Another criminal investigation has begun in Cuyahoga County, Ohio, where two elections officials were found to have rigged the 2004 Presidential Election recount.

A special prosecutor has now been appointed to look into the early printing of absentee ballot and early voting election results prior to Election Day in 2006. As well, the investigators will be looking into a network cable which was left plugged into a tabulator computer overnight, allowing for unauthorized access all night long.

Fox 8's I-Team has a good video report.
http://www.myfoxcleveland.com/myfox/pages/Home/Detail?contentId=2724402&version=1&locale=EN-US&layoutCode=VSTY&pageId=1.1.1

As well, The BRAD BLOG has learned that Ohio's new Secretary of State, Jennifer Brunner, will be personally delivering termination notices to the county's four Board of Elections members tomorrow. On Monday, Brunner demanded the resignation of the entire board in Ohio's most Democratic-leaning county. The head of that election board, Bob Bennett, is also the chair of the Ohio Republican Party. He has vowed to fight Brunner in court, which, we're told by sources, she welcomes.

It should be noted that the illegal printing of election results prior to Election Day was recently discovered as well by Election Integrity advocate, John Brakey, down in Pima County (Tucson), Arizona. That discovery has led to a lawsuit currently in hot progress down there.

Was a nationalized effort in place to print out election results prior to elections, to allow for the last-minute pinpointed targeting of Get Out the Vote efforts? We'll stay tuned...
