Whistling past the graveyard .......
.... is what we're doing.

Consider that the immediate issue for the car companies is ....... tada ...... no one is buying because no one can get credit or if they can get credit, they're scared shitless of taking on the debt.

Consider that the reason retailers are going belly up is ......... tada ....... no one is buying shit. Even small purchases are overly considered and more often than not, postponed.

Consider that, for all our past cheap and easy credit and for all the funny securities that got sold and repackaged and resold and packaged again and sold again ...... no inflation to speak of. We're printing money faster than anyone can imagine and no inflation. Not even a worry right now.

All because, simply, the economy is dysfunctional.

And nobody knows what to do about it.

All we cas think to do is sprinkle pixie dust on top of it in the form of various bail outs and loans and stimulus packages.

But no one is addressing the fundamental, structural issues.

And they're not going to get better on their own.

1. I had to go to the dealer to get a part the other day
and there were 4 salesmen sitting around with all these big beautiful expensive Mazdas. I wonder how long those guys will have jobs.
