Ah Teddy.........
<snip>
Senator Edward Kennedy is in the last months of his life. At this moment an extraordinary public memorial is being planned, in its emotional power and political consequence unlike anything in American life since the death of John F. Kennedy. When the president was assassinated, his widow planned a funeral that memorialized all that was good and noble about her late husband. She did it for the nation and she did it for her family. That's the JFK Caroline knows. She's not like the rest of us who with one revelation after another having chipped away the myth of Camelot into a bunch of broken pieces. She brings that noble idea of her father to Washington.

I didn't think he could be doing that well. This paragraph brought me up short.
I can still hope.

1. The operative word that we need to embrace is "myth." Kennedy's Camelot is a MYTH.

It's time to wake the HELL up to the vicious nature that is a budding Plutocracy in the USA.

All the public service Kennedys in the world will NOT make a damn bit of difference.

Only THE PEOPLE holding our *spineless* representative's feet to the fire will bring about FAIRNESS for the Average American.

8. Are you old enough to remember the impact that JFK had on us while alive? Myths are what hold us...
... together. Myths are not the same as lies. We live in myth the way fish live in water, unconscious that it surrounds us. Myths can call us to our better selves, and can ennoble our enterprises. JFK inspired a generation of young people with the Peace Corps, and so much more.

Living and manipulating myth can destroy worlds. The architects of the Nazi movement were very conscious of that. They tried to build a Thousand Year Reich, but destroyed themselves as well.

JFK was not a god, but all too human. Ted Kennedy is just human, trying to live out his family legacy. I think he is a genuine public servant, unless you can show me how he has enriched himself and cronies to the detriment of the rest of us.

The man is dying. Whatever you think of plutocracy, hold your fire for a decent interval please. When you scream about waking the HELL up, please aim your wrath at more appropriate targets, like the Bushes, the BFEE. The BFEE has worked to subvert the Constitution and Bill of Rights for the past 4 generations, and have enormously enriched themselves and their cronies, without regard to who suffers.

Thank you.

Hekate

3. I join millions who remember in hoping that Teddy makes it to the inauguration...
We remember. And we know that Senator Edward Kennedy built a fine career in the Senate, one that has benefitted people far outside his home state.

4. How does this guy know Kennedy's status? He could be in remission.
They are very private; I haven't heard either way.

9. Leamer has written several well regarded books about the Kennedys.
He is still in contact with some of them, but he readily admits that there are those who want nothing to do with him. I don't know if it's

100% true, but I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand.
