Shouldn't the dog food makers be paying for the office calls, blood tests, and such? They caused the problem. How come I haven't heard anything about this?

1. Maybe a little class action suit is in order? A lady in Chicago
already filed a lawsuit after her 9 y/o ginger boy died from eating tainted food.

2. I don't want to sue anybody
I just want to have my pets checked for the elevated kidney levels that can be caused by the bad food. That alone would be over $200 dollars for my 2 dogs and cat.

I think the companies who have made the billions from making and selling the pet food that has turned out to be dangerous for our pets to eat should pay this. Not us.

3. From what I've heard, they are paying.
According to the press releases I've received at my clinic, the pet food companies *are* going to pay for diagnosis and treatment if needed. I think one would need to contact the individual companies for detailed information. They all have an 800 number on the package, and if I remember correctly (not at the office right now), the major manufacturers are going to post dedicated phone numbers on their individual websites. We've screened a fair number of pets, and so far we have been lucky that they are all OK (keeping fingers crossed!)

4. Thank you for the information. I am going to call my vet today
Edited on Wed Mar-21-07 07:39 AM by NNN0LHI
I actually had a very sick dog here last year who was eating the identified products. His kidney levels were not right and he was also passing crystals in his urine. He was urinating blood. My Vet suggested a diet change (Hills Prescription) and he has been fine since. The whole deal cost me about five hundred dollars to get him healthy. It was worth it and he is fine now. Not sure if this was connected to the food or not but I am going to ask my vet and get his opinion. Thanks again.

6. As it should be. Look no one likes to sue, but I wonder how
many people who are living on fixed incomes don't have the means to take their pets to the vet for hundreds of dollars of examinations and tests. This company better be stepping up to the plate.

No pun intended.
