When I found that link, I was looking for Lennon's quotes about "Imagine." IIRC, he said the song was a "sugar-coated" version of his ideas about religion. And he knew that saying what he really felt would be very unpopular.

Of course, he had already learned that lesson in 1966, when he said the Beatles were more popular than Jesus.

4. Whoa. That takes me back to Jr High.

We had a couple speak to our youth group about the evils of the Rock and Roll music. They went on and on about how Dark Side of the Moon would turn us into satan worshipers.

After that night, Pink Floyd moved up on my album want list. :)

8. I'm a big tough guy...

but as I sit here and listen to Imagine....I remember that day...and I'm weaping.

I was 8...but I come from a musical family. I studied music my whole life...went to music school as a young man...and now as a grown man...work in the music industry....

and all of that comes back to my Mother playing The Beatles non-stop at our house.

My Mother came home, weaping, telling me that John Lennon had been killed. And we sat and cried together.
