I LOVE watching the "media-types" sitting around whining
about how the eeeeeevil blogosphere is gaining momentum, and how they (we) can "put out a message to 5 million or more people...without having the media 'parse it' or explain it"..(from C-span's press secretary panel)....and they are upset too that Obama can "go directly to the people, bypassing the press completely"..

It never even OCCURS to them ,that had they been doing their JOBS all these years, and reporting on the WHOLE story, we might never had felt the NEED to ferret out information on our own

1. Thank the tech-gods for the "Internets".
We wouldn't be where we are if there wasn't this amazing system of "tubes".
The blogs have literally saved us. (just barely in time,I hope)

2. Yep! Thank God for Al Gore's "invention." Particulary, youtube where..
media whores can be exposed to the world seconds after they try to mislead with their biased reporting. Drat! Double drat! No longer can they get away with their lies. Also the blogs on internet news sites. Seconds after a reporter posts a bullshit story, readers can rip their bullshit to shreds as Dana Milbank found out when he tried to push a right wing meme.

12. John McBombIran found this out the hard way too.
Yes, John, we have moved on from the telegraph.
I'm absolutely convinced his "mis-speaks"and ill-timed quips, that instantly went viral on YouTube, contributed to his defeat.
You might even go as far to say YouTube has saved the freakin' planet!

:woohoo:

6. Not a tech-god
but as someone that was writing code for the IMPs in the middle seventies (back when the ARPAnet had a grand total of maybe a dozen computers hooked to it)... you're welcome.

Of course, the tech-gods of the Internet are Cerf, Kleinrock, Postel, Berners-Lee and many many others.

One of those (but a little less heralded by history) was Van Jacobson. I was his "manager" for a brief time in the mid nineties, not that anyone really managed him... more like we sent him money and he sent us cool code and reports and stuff.

3. The corporate media has flushed its own honor & cred down the crapper
Edited on Sun Dec-07-08 06:53 AM by SpiralHawk
With 8 or more long years of bended-knee, brown-nosing of Commander AWOL Bush and his corrupt cabal of Republicon Homelander Chickenhawks.

So the corporate 'journalist' propaganda pimps can take their whiney complaints and stick them where the Sun don't shine. They have done themselves in.

4. These guys are dinosaurs and they don't even know it. They talk
about how things have always been done and how it is "supposed" to be. The reason they're dying is because they won't grow with the "new" media. Look at them though. They're all so old, they will all be dead soon.

5. I think my mom is finally catching on a bit.
She told me, guess the only state Bush hasn't stepped foot in for the entire 8 yrs.. I said, Vermont.. lucky you. And then I said, its probably due to the fact that he'd probably be arrested if he went there. AND she says, "hmm, I wonder why they didn't report that little bit of information.. because your probably right." Duh, Mom.

9. But, but, but, without the wise men and women of the media
We unwashed masses would almost surely draw the wrong conclusions from the raw data of the Bush administration! And that's just not good for the continued survival of their phoney baloney jobs. Log off, America! It's your patriotic duty to be led by your betters. It's not torture; it's extraordinary rendition. It's not a war crime or a crime against humanity; it's the president doin' his job, keepin' us safe. And if you die because of it, there are always two choices: We'll lionize you for dying for our freedom, or ignore your death entirely.

Gosh, what modern society could function without the vital service provided to us by the likes of Judith Miller?

10. Maybe they'll all retire in to an old pundits home
They should have kept their skills current and become bloggers, but then they would sink or swim at our whim anyway.

I have thanked the gods and the people who created the internet and who developed it many hundreds of times in the last 8 years.

One excellent example of getting the truth in no other way was the video of Bush reading the Pet Goat book while we were under attack. Without that key piece of evidence we would all believe the revisionist history these pundits would have fed us. We would have to hear how heroic he was that day and the lie would have become a historic 'fact' to be taught forevermore to our children's children. Makes you wonder how many lies we think are facts doesn't it?

11. YouTube changed everything.
Yes, CluelessInChief sitting stunned in the school classroom really opened eyes. He was un-masked at that moment. Instead of his chest-puffing swagger, we were able to see the "deer-in-headlights" dumb fuck caught on film. Andy Card had to tell him the United States is under attack. It was not reassuring, to say the least.
Then there was the "Macaca" comment for George Allen that doomed his Senate seat.
It goes on and on.
There's no putting the toothpaste back in the tube now, thank Gawd.
