we tried to tell them.

On October 6, 2002, I joined DUer CatWoman, Mike and Kathy Malloy, and several dozen others in a park in Atlanta's retail and nightlife district of Buckhead. We were there to protest what was coming.

We got mooned repeatedly by an SUV-load of frat boys who drove around the block several times. I wonder sometimes where those guys are. I doubt they joined up and went to Iraq, but if they did, I hope they're not among the dead.

You can lead a horse to water. Four years into the war, the news tells me that segments of my fellow Americans are coming to the view that maybe, just maybe, we shouldn't have done this. Maybe we'll remember this the next time. Maybe.

1. I marched against this war before it started too . . .
all those lives ago. All those people who are dead now because of this idiotic war were living, breathing people then.

It makes me mad as hell.

2. I knew (as did most of you) that C*lin P*well's presentation at the UN didn't justify war
I remember shaking my head and thinking, 'well, he sounds credible, but I'm still not sold.'

3. I remember being so upset because Powell didn't say anything new
and that is when I knew it was all a lie. When I heard that Powell was going to make the presentation to the UN, I thought - okay, now we will hear the proof. As he spoke, I realized he had nothing new.

They used him, exploited him - and he let himself be used and exploited - an accomplice before the fact.

We know that Powell knows what he did - that will haunt him forever.

4. When he shook that empty vial at the UN
I wanted to jump through the TV screen and tell him to shove it.

What a bunch of liars and thieves and criminals. He shamed himself that sad day.

5. Next time someone sez, "But everyone bleeved that Saddam had WMD's" I'll get sick
We were there on August 22, 2002, and got pepper-sprayed for our beliefs.

7. Been out there too,
from the beginning. I suppose there should be some feeling of satisfaction in being right, wanting to say, "I told you so." There isn't, it's all too sad, too frustrating, too many lives are gone, too many families that will never be the same come Christmas or birthdays or anniversaries. I sincerely wish we had all been wrong and the Middle East was a shining example of democracy, that this brought peace.
